Over nearly 40 years, APR Consultants has worked extensively though out New Zealand developing a range of customised services.
APR started in 1983 as D.J. Shaw Associates. In 1985 the consultancy operated from offices in central Rotorua, offering resource management, marketing, town planning, economic analysis and research services. With the formation of APR in 1990, the range of services was extended to include architecture, urban design and interior design. Around the same time the company moved to a new office in Pukaki Street, in Rotorua’s CBD.
In 1993, civil and structural engineering services were added with the merger of an engineering practice. APR could now offer a one-stop consultancy service, hence our motto ‘turning ideas into reality’.
By the mid 1990’s, APR had grown and needed larger premises. The directors purchased and redeveloped one of the older houses in Rotorua’s CBD. The company also opened offices in Hamilton and Whangarei.
In late 2005, with staff numbers now approaching 40, APR’s main office was relocated to the newly established Business Hub on Hinemaru Street, Rotorua, which was officially opened by the Prime Minister Helen Clark on Friday 1 December 2006.
In 2012 the main APR business separated into different consultancy, architecture and engineering companies.
APR Consultants with its original founder Deryck Shaw has continued to offer economic analysis, business development ,marketing and public research, management and business advice, planning and project management services since.
In addition APR has provided a home for the Rotorua Sustainable Charter (Inc) since its creation around 25 years ago
